Ayurveda Post | October 2023

Ayurveda Post Oct Header

Namaste,

This October 10th marked World Mental Health Day, as communities worldwide come together to raise awareness and promote mental wellbeing for all. This year’s theme was ‘Make mental health for all a global priority.’ At CAYEIT, we recognize the growing urgency of addressing mental health, as disorders like depression and anxiety rise globally. On World Mental Health Day, we reaffirm our commitment to sharing India’s timeless wisdom on integrative mental healthcare. The holistic sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga offer natural solutions for lifestyle-rooted mental health disorders.

Ayurveda takes a broad view of health, emphasizing balance between mind, body, and spirit. Imbalances in the subtle energies of the mind can manifest as mental health issues according to Ayurvedic philosophy. Yogic practices are scientifically validated to reduce stress, anxiety and depression through self-regulation of the nervous system.

Integrative care calls us to blend the best of East and West. While modern medicine excels at acute treatment, Ayurveda and Yoga excel at lifestyle wisdom. On this Mental Health Day, we hope all will join us in marrying timeless traditions with new understanding. Mental wellbeing for all requires new vision.

Wish you a Happy Vijayadashami !

Warm Regards
Prof Abhimanyu Kumar

Abstract oil painting where a luminous, radiant orb in the centre represents the mind (mana). The orb is surrounded by gentle waves in shades of blues, symbolizing a calm mental state. Sharp, fragmented patterns in deep reds emerge from the edges, hinting at causes of mental illness, but are softened and harmonized by flowing curves of golds and greens, representing the healing and balance brought by Ayurvedic treatments.
