UNESCO World Heritage Committee Meeting
The 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee was successfully held in New Delhi, India, from July 21 to 31, 2024. This landmark event, the first of its kind to be hosted and chaired by India, took place at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition and Convention Centre. The session brought together representatives from 21 member states to deliberate on critical issues related to the conservation of cultural and natural heritage sites worldwide.
PM Modi’s Speech at the 46th UNESCO World Heritage Committee Meeting & Ayurveda
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and emphasized that heritage is not just history but a “shared consciousness” of humanity. He urged leveraging heritage to improve global well-being and foster deeper connections across cultures and nations.
In his speech, PM Modi highlighted the significance of India’s traditional practices like Ayurveda and Yoga. He pointed out that these ancient sciences are integral parts of India’s cultural heritage and have the potential to contribute significantly to global health and wellness. Modi advocated for the wider acceptance and integration of these practices worldwide to promote holistic health and well-being.
