The Ministry of Ayush said on Saturday that it is expanding the use of artificial intelligence across healthcare, research, education and information services from New Delhi. The initiative includes specialised applications for the Ayush sector, collaborations with national AI programmes and efforts to improve access to digital services.
Applications under development
The ministry is participating in the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge, which focuses on AI-enabled solutions for the Ayush sector. Applications being explored include voice-based electronic health records, disease-trend detection and personalised treatment-support tools.
According to the ministry, these technologies are intended to support healthcare delivery, generate clinical insights and strengthen patient-centric care across Ayurveda and other Ayush systems. The material describes the applications as being explored or developed and does not report clinical study findings or evidence of effectiveness.
The ministry said its AI-related artefacts are available on AI Kosh to support research and dissemination in Ayush and Ayurveda. It has also collaborated with IndiaAI and the Digital India Bhashini Division of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on artificial intelligence, language technologies, digital health and advanced computing.
Services for citizens and researchers
The collaboration with Bhashini has enabled Ayush Grid portals for practitioners, students and citizens to become available in 22 scheduled Indian languages, according to the ministry. The stated aim is to expand access to Ayush-related digital services across India’s linguistic diversity.
The MAISP Chatbot provides conversational access to information about Ayush systems, including Ayurveda. The ARP Research Assistant is a generative AI-based assistant linked to the Ayush Research Portal and is designed to help researchers navigate literature relating to Ayurveda and other Ayush systems.
Education, trade and investment tools
The eLMS Chatbot provides AI-based support for student life-cycle management at Ayurveda and other Ayush educational institutions. The e-CHARAK Chatbot serves as a medicinal-plant trade assistant and connects conversational AI with the ecosystem supporting medicinal-plant trade and Ayurvedic pharmacology.
Other applications include Yoga Saarthi, described as an AI-based chatbot offering yoga recommendations, and Nivesh Saarthi, an AI assistant for investment-related information in the Ayush sector. Together, these services represent an expansion of the Ayush Grid from conventional digital portals to more interactive services.
Why it matters
The ministry said the AI ecosystem is intended for citizens, practitioners, students, researchers and investors. Its plans indicate a broader use of artificial intelligence and language technologies in Ayush information, research, education and service delivery, while the reported clinical applications remain at the exploration or development stage.
